Joao Granja

I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. I work primarily on Empirical Industrial Organization.

I study how market forces and regulations determine product availability and pricing. In my work, I leverage original data collected in partnership with regulators, NGOs, and start-ups, economic modeling, and state-of-the-art structural econometrics methods.

In my job market paper, I study the effect of regulation on the diffusion of new mobile telecommunications technologies, leveraging new data on mobile technology availability in Brazil. You can find more research and other materials in the menus at the top of this page.
